Microsoft DirSync (for Office 365) sync interval

You can have need to change the synchronization interval for DirSync. Do the following:

  1. Stop the two services for DirSync
    • Forefront Identity Manager Synchronization Service
    • Windows Azure Active Directory Sync Service
  2. Open the directory where DirSync is installed
    Normally C:\program files\Microsoft Online Directory Sync\
  3. Open the file Microsoft.Online.DirSync.Scheduler.exe.Config
  4. Change the value for SyncTimeInterval (below is every 10 minutes)

  5. Save the file
  6. Start the service
Default value is every 3 hours. I recommend to set this value to every 15 minutes in a test environment (maximum 1000 objects). For production environments I recommend every 1 hour.
